This well loved Square Enix series first arrived on our selves in the UK for the SNES back in 1993. Not to be confused but this was the second instalment in the Mana series . The franchise has since spawned numerous sequels and remakes. This one being the first remake of Secrets of Mana. The Secrets of Mana was pretty big the making it a cult classic and becoming a fan favourite for the Jap RPG gamers .
The news about this game so far is : complete new visual style game featuring full 3D environment ,new dialogue scenes, upgraded gameplay , a number of new elements, newly arranged soundtrack and Japanese / English language audio options
The remake of Secret of Mana hits PS4, PS Vita, and Steam on 15 February 2018
According to Square Enix’s Japanese online store, the 14,980 yen ( £105) Collector’s Edition will include either the PlayStation 4 or PS Vita version of the game, as well as a pop-up storybook, soundtrack and three adorable figures, and DLC ,all of which can be seen in the gallery below:
What I like to expect from the Remaster :
The main key feature that this game brought to the gaming table was its local three player co op . I’m hoping the remake will also feature this .One interesting fact about the original release is that it was originally going to be a launch title for the SNES CD add-on and after the project was dropped, the game had to be altered to fit onto a standard game cartridge.
With an estimated 40% loss of the game was excised to fit it onto an SNES cartridge. I would like to see what was originally intended for the game As Hiromachi has stated before that the original story was much deeper and darker in tone, and that there was simply no room to do any character development in the shrunken game. One issue thata needs to be address is its English translation. As seen on the trailer the game does features in game voice acting which i am very excited about but did not aspect at all . It has also been mentioned that the game will feature both Japanese and English to choose from.
A short history of the Mana series in the UK
Here in the UK we have been a bit pushed aside with releases of the series .The first game was released in 1991 for the game boy original and went quite low under the rader as they decided to give it a different name for localisation . Japans given name to this series was called Seiken Densetsu which they kept throughout the series .We had final fantasy adventure for the first game and Secrets of Mana for the second instalment. There was also a remake of the first game brought over here in UK in 2004 titled Sword of mana .
Sequels
Nintendo DS titles
These two release based in the world of mana were released here in the UK but have been considered the weeker titles in the series and were not well received.
