Directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama Produced by Toru Miura . This is a cyberpunk-style OVA adaptation of the manga of the same name created by Masamune Shirow.
The two main charecters are Briareos a cyborg, mostly human but with enhanced physical strength and ,Deunan is a natural human with kick a** skills and a dam mean attuide with hands on a an exoskeleton-armor powersuit
3. Robotech the movie
It was adapted from three original Japanese television series spanning over 85 episodes.Robotechnology refers to the scientific advances discovered in an alien starship that crashed on a South Pacific island.
With this technology, Earth developed robotic technologies, such as transformable mecha. This series have spanned over a mecha mount of series and films with the most recent Robotech: Love Live Alive
2. Akira Released 1988
This is a epic science fiction action .Akira is renown for the quality that was way head of its time. Based on Otomo’s mangaand written by Otomo and Izo HashimotoIt. This was such a big hit and a influence on the science-fiction genre. film depicts a dystopian version of Tokyo in the year 2019, with cyberpunk tones.
The plot focuses on teenage biker Tetsuo Shima and his psychic powers, and the leader of his biker gang, Shotaro Kaneda
1.Laputa: Castle in the Sky 1986
Directed by one of the living anime legends Hayao Miyazaki .Laputa: Castle in the Sky is his first film produced and released by Studio Ghibli. human civilizations built flying cities, which were later destroyed by an unspecified catastrophe, forcing the survivors to live on the ground.
The only remaining flying city, Laputa, still floats in the sky, concealed within a powerful thunderstorm.
The architecture seen in the film was inspired by a Welsh mining town. Where he witnessed the miners’ strike firsthand. He returned to the country in 1986 to prepare for Laputa, which he said reflected his Welsh experience.With rating over 90% from across the board this has been voted one of the best anime ever made .
This is just my personal choice . I could write pages on each of these films but for you guys I like to keep it sort and digestive .There are some great 80’s titles out there I still haven’t got around to watch . My advice if you are starting to get into anime dont cast away the past as it properly the best quality ,especially for its time.
